Martin Jol is convinced that Brede Hangeland is happy at Fulham and expects the defender to commit his future to the club.

Hangeland's current contract expires at the end of the season and the Cottagers have been talking to him for some time about a possible extension.

Jol hopes to be given an update after Monday's match against Newcastle United and has no worries about losing the Norwegian.

"It only depends on a decision so if Brede says yes it is okay," the Fulham boss said. "If he says no, then we have to wait, talk and negotiate.

"I will ask Alistair [Mackintosh, chief executive officer] what the situation is after the game [against Newcastle] again.

"I am confident he will sign because he loves it here. He is a Fulham player.

"We took him from Scandinavia and I think he loves it here and we offered him a good contract."

Hangeland will return from suspension for the clash with the Magpies at Craven Cottage after being sent off against Sunderland.
