Peterborough sign Fulham defender on month-long loan
Matthew Briggs has joined Peterborough United on a one-month loan deal from Fulham.
The deal will be completed when the loan window opens at midnight on Wednesday morning and the defender will go straight into the squad for Saturday's game with West Ham.
The full-back has been capped by England at Under-21 level and scored for Fulham in a Europa League qualifier in July, and has gone on to start 10 European games.
Posh boss Darren Ferguson was delighted to capture the 20-year-old.
He told
the club's official website: "To be fair, Matthew is a lad I have been interested in for a while, even when I was at Preston.
Strengthen
"He is a good size, has great pace, has a good left foot and I am delighted to bring him to the club.
"He can play at centre back, but his main position is left-back. He will strengthen us without a shadow of doubt.
"I have been using Craig Alcock or Tommy Rowe in that position. The majority of games we have won, Tommy has played in midfield and I am aware of that.
"Matthew gives us another option and he adds a bit of quality to the squad and I am very pleased to have him on board."
