Roma have completed the signing of keeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax in a reported 6.3million euro deal.

Dutch keeper finally arrives at Stadio Olimpico

Roma have completed the signing of Holland goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg from Ajax in a reported €6.3million (£5.5m) deal. After lengthy negotiations the keeper has penned a four-year contract at the Stadio Olimpico. Stekelenburg becomes new coach Luis Enrique's latest signing in a busy summer of rebuilding at the Serie A side, which has seen six new faces arrive. The 28-year-old, whose contract at Ajax had a year remaining, travelled to Rome at the weekend for a medical and agreed a deal before completing the transfer. The deal includes additional clauses which will see Dutch champions Ajax receive a further payment if and when Stekelenburg signs a new deal or moves elsewhere, plus a bonus if they qualify for the UEFA Champions League. The keeper's move ends speculation surrounding his future, with the Dutchman having also been linked with Arsenal this summer. Roma have already signed the likes of Bojan Krkic and Gabriel Heinze during the close season.
