Defender recalled after Blades loan extended

Fulham have recalled Toni Kallio barely hours after the defender had extended his loan deal at Sheffield United. Kallio initially joined the Blades in November and his month-long spell was due to expire before the Boxing Day game against Leicester City. Blades boss Kevin Blackwell was keen to hang on to the Finland international, who had made two appearances in the Championship for the club. A deal had been announced by United that the experienced stopper would stay at Bramall Lane on loan until the end of January. However, moments after United had confirmed the extension, Kallio was recalled by Fulham due to an injury in Roy Hodgson's defence at Craven Cottage. It means Kallio could now go into Fulham's squad for the Premier League game at home to London rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Boxing Day.
