Fulham boss Roy Hodgson says Alexei Smertin and Collins John are both free to leave Craven Cottage.

Smertin and John both told they can move on

Roy Hodgson says Alexei Smertin and Collins John are both free to leave Fulham. The two players have barely featured for Fulham since Hodgson took charge at Craven Cottage midway through last season. Former Chelsea midfielder Smertin has spent 18 months with Fulham, but has been told he can look for a new club. Dutch striker John has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and spent a spell on loan at Watford last term. Crystal Palace have recently shown an interest in John, although Selhurst Park boss Neil Warnock is keen to assess the player's fitness. With the transfer window closing on Monday night, Fulham boss Hodgson admits he is waiting on offers for John and Smertin. "It's not as if we are asking for any money for Smertin," said Hodgson. "It's just no one has made any enquiries for him - the same goes for John."
