Defender arrives on loan as striker moves closer to exit door

Ipswich have signed Fulham defender Moritz Volz on loan, while Alan Lee is in talks with Crystal Palace. Volz has agreed a season-long loan at Portman Road after passing a medical. The German has dropped down the pecking order at Fulham over the last year and the club are willing to let him move on. Volz is expected to go straight into the squad for this weekend's game with Watford and Town boss Jim Magilton believes the former Arsenal man will be a vaulable addition to his squad. Moritz Volz has completed a loan move from Fulham to Ipswich, where he will ply his trade for the remainder of the season.

Top professional

"He's a top professional who has spent his career in England playing at Premier League level," Magilton told the club's official website. "He believes he is a Premier League player. I believe that as well so we have got a very good player on our hands. "He will add some extra quality to the squad and is another step towards taking us where we want to be." One player on his way out of Portman Road is Lee who has been given permission to talk to Crystal Palace. Palace have agreed a fee for the Republic of Ireland international and Lee is due to undergo a medical at Selhurst Park. "He is speaking to them about personal terms. As far as I'm aware they've not been agreed yet," Town chief executive Derek Bowden told the club's official website.
