Banik Ostrava have played down rumours linking Vaclav Sverkos with a move to Fulham.

Czech striker unlikely to be heading for Craven Cottage

Banik Ostrava have played down rumours linking Vaclav Sverkos with a move to Fulham. The Czech club are reluctant to part with the striker and claim to have no understanding as to where the speculation originated. The 24-year-old, who recently represented Czech Republic at Euro 2008, is thought to be interesting a number of clubs but a spokesman for Banik denied that they had received any contact from England. "Fulham? To be honest it is the first time I have heard about that," Igor Bruzl told Denik Sport. "I have spoken with the club's owner Mr Petera and he was as surprised by Fulham's reported interest as I was."

Delay

Sverkos has also been strongly linked with a switch to France, but Bruzl conceded that Eastern Europe appears to be the forward's most likely destination. "There have been some initial contacts, but it is not the case that French clubs have directly contacted the club with the intention of starting negotiations. "On the other hand, the offers from Russia have been very specific. "We would like to have the matter resolved by Wednesday. We cannot delay this situation any further. We need to know if we can count on Vaclav Sverkos or not. "He feels that the time for him to start preparations for the upcoming season and wants to know which club he will be at."
