Athletic Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta has played down talk of a move to the Premier League.
A number of English clubs, including Newcastle, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea, have been linked with the highly-rated centre-back since the start of the season.
The most recent speculation has suggested that Newcastle are at the front of the queue as Kevin Keegan looks to strengthen his squad in the summer.
Amorebieta admits he is flattered by the stories but insists he has no interest in leaving Bilbao.
He is happy plying his trade in Spain and believes it is the best place for him to develop further as a player.
"It is positive for me but it is not really in my plans to leave Bilbao. My future is here and I want to progress as a player," Amorebieta told the Basque press.
"I have heard rumours since last summer but nobody has formally contacted my club.
"Bilbao decide my future and that has not changed."
Amorebieta is contracted to Bilbao until 2011 and is valued in the region of 20million euros (£16million).
