Burnley manager Owen Coyle refused to be downbeat following his side's 1-1 draw with Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing Day.
Coyle, who has yet to win a game at home since taking charge over a month ago, had to witness his side go down to a controversial penalty early on in the game at Turf Moor after Steven Caldwell was adjudged to have brought down Deon Burton.
Penalty controversy
Burnley goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly took a while to prepare himself to face the spot kick, which resulted in referee Scott Mathieson losing patience and blowing his whistle to allow Burton to fire home into a virtually unguarded net.
The Clarets, however, equalised just two minutes later through Ade Akinbiyi and then strived for the elusive winner, but had to settle for a point.
The result means that Burnley have only won twice at home in the Championship this season but Coyle was happy with his side's efforts.
"I thought we did enough to win the match although we weren't as fluid as in previous games," Coyle said.
Commenting on the penalty incident, Coyle added: "It would have been nice if your goalkeeper was able to defend a penalty.
"Gabor had his back to the ball and I asked the referee at half time could he not have asked the goalkeeper if he was ready and then blown the whistle but I have to credit the players for their endeavour and desire."
Faded
Coyle's opposite number Brian Laws admitted the second half was a struggle.
"The penalty was very clear but that was the turning point," he said.
"The referee blew the whistle, I heard it and Deon scored, but the crowd responded and they scored.
"We looked comfortable in the first half but the game faded out in the second half and was a battle in midfield."
