American expected back by Christmas

Fulham captain Brian McBride is progressing well in his recovery from injury and is expected to return to the side by Christmas. The American striker has been sidelined since suffering a serious knee injury in the 2-1 defeat to Middlesbrough in August. It was initially feared that he would not be back in action until 2008 but Lawrie Sanchez recently declared that he could be back in his plans for the Premier League game against Wigan on 22nd December. McBride's rehabilitation is still on schedule and physio Jason Palmer is confident he is closing in on a return to the first team. "Brian is progressing soundly. We are hoping to have him involved by Christmas," Palmer said in the Daily Mirror. "Midfielder Jimmy Bullard is also back in training after a year out with a knee injury."
