Lens eyed Queudrue return

Francis Collado has revealed Lens did consider tabling a bid for Franck Queudrue.

Francis Collado has revealed Lens did consider tabling a bid for former defender Franck Queudrue.

Queudrue has been linked with leaving Fulham this summer and with Lens on the lookout for a left-back, a return to Sang-et-Or was a possibility.

However, Lens have now turned their attentions to Toulouse's want-away stopper Lucien Aubey rather than pursue an interest in Queudrue.

"We thought about him, but that case is not relevant anymore," Lens sports director Collado told the club's official website.

Lens are expected to complete the ?2million (£1.35million) signing of Aubey on Friday.

The 23-year-old will be replaced at Toulouse by St Etienne's Herita Ilunga, who has signed a three-year deal with Les Violets.

Meanwhile, Lens have added another goalkeeper to their ranks after completing the capture of Ronan Le Crom from Troyes.

Le Crom joins fellow keeper Vedran Runje in moving to the Stade Felix-Bollaert this summer.

Lens coach Guy Roux now has three veteran shot-stoppers at his disposal and the latest arrival is likely to push Charles Itandje out.

"I will have three professional keepers and four with the young Arnaud Brocard," said Roux. "That means one of the three could leave, but I won't force anyone.

"Charles Itandje's value is not questioned, but he has one year remaining on his contract."

Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Frei will not be joining Roux's squad ahead of next season, despite reports of interest from Lens.

Collado added: "We have never had any contact with Alexander Frei."

Meanwhile, Aruna Dindane will miss the start of the new season following surgery on his right tibia in Paris.
