Brian Laws has played down suggestions that the arrival of Iain Turner will spell the end of Mark Crossley's career at Sheffield Wednesday.
The Owls boss signed Turner on loan from Everton on Friday and the Scot will go straight into the starting line-up against Southend United.
Crossley will not even be included in the squad after Laws admitted that the on-loan Fulham man had cost Wednesday points in recent weeks.
However, the Welsh shot stopper will not be sent back to Craven Cottage despite the signing of Turner and his recent poor form.
"Mark is still our player. Mark has been absolutely superb for us but of late his standards have dipped, he has cost us a few points. It's something that a manager has to react to," Laws told the Sheffield Star.
"I'm not involving him this weekend against Southend, so he can get his head around what's happened. Chris Adamson will be on the bench against Southend."
