Skysports.com can confirm Fulham are in talks to sign Colombus Crew midfielder Simon Elliott.
Fulham have been chasing the defensive midfielder for some time after he impressed in a pre-season friendly against the West London outfit.
Chris Coleman has been keeping tabs on Elliott and is ready to push through a deal for the New Zealand international when the transfer window swings back open in January.
The 31-year-old is keen to try his luck in England after a long spell in America and Fulham are ready to offer him that opportunity.
Coleman is aiming to bolster his squad and he sees Elliott as a key addition to his side for the second half of the season with a number of Fulham players being linked with a move away from Craven Cottage in January.
The player's agent Lyle Yorks confirmed Fulham were interested in Elliott and that the player had trained with the club earlier this year.
"Talks are ongoing with Fulham regarding Simon, but there is nothing to report as yet," Yorks told skysports.com.
"I can confirm that he did train at Fulham earlier this year."
Sunderland have also been mentioned as possible suitors for Elliott, but Yorks insists he knows nothing of any interest from Wearside.
"I have not heard about Sunderland and I have not spoken to Mick McCarthy or anyone from Sunderland," added Yorks.
