Fulham boss Chris Coleman has urged the club to keep midfield duo Papa Bouba Diop and Lee Clark at Craven Cottage.

Both players have enjoyed productive campaigns in the engine room of Coleman's side, with the Cottagers chief eager to keep the partnership in tandem.

Diop has proven to be Fulham's most valuable player after settling almost immediately to the pace of The Premiership and Coleman has urged his board to spurn any advances for his services.

''He is a magnificent player and has grown,'' said Coleman.

''He is a player who we must - under no circumstances - let leave this club.

''But there will be interest in him because there are not many like him.

''He is 6ft 4in, with good feet, can break up and score great goals, like he did against Norwich.

''We cannot let that guy leave this club, it is simple as that - but I said that about Louis Saha.''

Meanwhile, captain Clark is out of contract in the summer - with Coleman keen to retain his services.

''As yet there has not been an offer put in front of Lee - but it will be, hopefully, once we know what is happening with the budget.

''He is one of the big earners at the club, because of the contract he signed three years ago - but we can't give contracts out like that any more, and that is something I have to think about.''
