Fulham's Papa Bouba Diop will be out for at least three weeks according to the club's physio Jason Palmer.

Diop was taken off during Fulham's last outing at Old Trafford, after picking up a hamstring injury.

The Senegalese player then had to join up with his international team-mates, and a scan by the Senegal doctors quickly determined the serious nature of the injury.

"They (Senegal) performed an ultrasound scan on the area, and it suggested a hamstring tear," revealed Palmer on the club's website.

"However upon his return, the FFC medical team sent Bouba for a more thorough and sensitive MRI scan to get a better idea of the condition, the results of which we are still awaiting.

"At this stage we do not expect Bouba to be available for the next three weeks."

Diop has been a crucial player for Fulham this season, scoring some memorable goals, and his unmistakable presence will be sorely missed as Fulham attempt to halt their slide towards the relegation drop zone.

The news will not please manager Chris Coleman, who already had to do without Ian Pearce and Mark Pembridge in the forthcoming crunch match against Portsmouth, a match Sylvain Legwinski has described as "the club's most important game so far this season."
