Chester City are looking to bring in Fulham youngster Sean Doherty on loan.Chester City have announced that whilst they decide whether to make a loan move for Fulham midfielder Sean Doherty, they have already started negotiations for a mystery striker.
Doherty is surplus to requirements at Fulham, and underwent a similar loan spell with Blackpool last season.
The 19-year-old is yet to make a first team appearance for The Cottagers this season, and Chester boss Ian Rush may bring in the midfielder as he seeks to fill the gap left by the departure of Kevin Ellison to Hull.
City assistant manager Mark Aizelwood made an assessment of the player on Monday night, and the youngster could find himself at The Saunders Honda Stadium in the near future.
"Sean is playing for Fulham reserves in a match against Leicester City," Chester chairman Steven Vaughan told the Daily Post.
"If Mark is pleased with what he sees, then we intend to bring the player to Chester City, initially on a loan agreement and then if he impresses we would make the move permanent."
Chester are looking to invest in their squad and the chairman has stated that there will be increased transfer activity in the coming few days.
"I said last week that there would be player movement this week and Sean Doherty could possibly be the start.
"I have had discussions with the chairman of a North West Cola-Cola League One club, and if personal terms can be agreed with the player we have targeted, then an announcement about a signing will be made in the next day or two."
The player in question could be Tranmere's Eugene Dadi, who has been restricted to mostly substitute appearances at Prenton Park so far this season.
The 31-year-old French striker has scored just four goals and is somewhat out of favour under Rovers boss Brian Little.
