Bruce hails Heskey

Blues boss Steve Bruce praised Emile Heskey after his side beat Fulham.

Birmingham manger Steve Bruce was effusive in his praise for Emile Heskey after a vintage display from Bruno saw Birmingham take the points in a comfortable at Fulham.

Heskey floored Fulham with a cracking goal on 25 minutes and was involved in the other two as Birmingham powered past Fulham 3-2 at Craven Cottage.

Fellow striker Clinton Morrison was also lively in the capital victory and Bruce feels the two can forge a great partnership.

Bruce was fulsome in his praise for Heskey and told Sky Sports News: "I have always said you are only as good as your strikers.

"Emile has been playing up there on his own at times, but I think you could see why today that I keep saying that of his type - a typical English centre-forward - there is no-one better.

"He has led from the front for us and he has got the lot in my eyes. It is not for me to say if he should be in the England squad, I just have to pick a team for Birmingham.

"Emile and Clinton gave us that edge today. They like playing alongside each other and Clinton gives us a certain spark.

"Four wins in a row has certainly made my job easier but the win against Aston Villa gave everybody a real lift and that's what we needed."
