UNDER-FIRE Grimsby boss Lennie Lawrence has taken Fulham defender Mark Hudson on trial, but any future transfer looks unlikely for the cash-strapped Mariners.

Lawrence is desperate to add a defender to his ranks with Paul Raven suffering from injury and Marlon Broomes recently rejecting a move to Cleethorpes in favour of a switch to Sheffield Wednesday.

The 19-year-old stopper made his Fulham bow at the beginning of last season when he played in both Worthington Cup clashes with Chesterfield, but is yet to make his bow in the Premiership.

The Guildford-born ace has come through the youth ranks at Craven Cottage and has a bright future in store according to Cottagers boss Jean Tigana.

However, Tigana is unlikely to let Hudson leave in a permanent deal and is only likely to sanction a loan switch should he impress The Mariners coaching staff.
