Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines is set to make his return from injury in a behind-closed-doors friendly next week.
Hines underwent a knee operation in April and the 25-year-old has spent the summer recovering.
He is now ready to take the next step in his rehabilitation, which is a competitive run out for the development squad.
"Seb's not too far away," Boro boss Tony Mowbray told the Gazette.
"He needs a game before we can consider him for the first team and we will probably arrange a match at the training ground next week."
