Sky Sports sources understand that Hibernian are in talks with former star Kevin Thomson.
The Scotland international midfielder is a free agent after mutually agreeing to end his contract at Middlesbrough.
Thomson has been linked with another of his ex-employers in the shape of Rangers, but it seems a move back to the SPL is on the cards.
The 28-year-old came through the youth ranks at Easter Road, playing 80 games for the club over a four-year period before joining Rangers in 2007.
He joined Boro in 2010 but an injury-ravaged spell on Teesside saw him play less than 50 times before leaving last month.
