Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that Sammy Ameobi is close to agreeing a loan move to local rivals Middlesbrough.
Boro's floundering promotion push has seen them win just once since the turn of the year - and now Tony Mowbray is looking for loan reinforcements.
Ameobi has emerged as a target for Boro and Pardew looks ready to sanction the deal.
"We are going to talk to Middlesbrough," said Pardew.
"I would like to help them out if they want him and hopefully we can conclude that."
