Mowbray wants to secure defender's long-term future

Sky Sports understands Middlesbrough defender Seb Hines is poised to sign a new long-term contract. The Riverside club have been keen to secure the future of the 24-year-old after several impressive first-team performances in the second half of the season. Talks have been taking place for several months and Hines, who spent time on loan at Derby and Oldham in 2009, is now set to put pen to paper. Hines signed a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2011 but Middlesbrough want to be sure of his services well beyond the conclusion of those terms. Manager Tony Mowbray will be targeting promotion back to the Premier League next season and will not want to lose any of his best players.
