Mark Hughes has confirmed that Kieron Dyer could yet have a future at Queens Park Rangers.
The former England international midfielder was signed by Hughes' predecessor Neil Warnock - but his season was ended just seven minutes into his league debut against Bolton.
The foot injury Dyer picked up is now on the mend, but he is not expected to play again this season.
But, despite not signing him, Hughes insists he would love to see Dyer in pre-season.
"He's still doing his rehab. He's off his crutches and we're hoping that he will be fit and ready for pre-season," said Hughes.
"We're hoping that he has the chance to show what he can do."
