Belgium international targeted by Middlesbrough

Skysports.com understands that Middlesbrough are keen on Belgium international Faris Haroun. The 25-year-old midfielder is currently with Beerschot AC, and due to their poor financial situation he is set to be allowed to leave on a free. He attracted interest from Championship outfit Ipswich Town earlier this summer, whilst Hull City were also linked. Clubs from Germany are also closely following him, as are Standard Liege - who were believed to be looking at him as a potential replacement for Axel Witsel. But Haroun, who has scored 24 goals in three seasons, is believed to be keen on a move to England, and he is open to the idea of the playing in the Championship. Skysports.com now understands that Boro are ready to step up their interest and the player could even be on Teesside to watch the opening game of the Championship season on Saturday when Portsmouth visit the Riverside.
