Middlesbrough striker set for medical on Tuesday

Swansea have confirmed that they have agreed personal terms with Middlesbrough striker Leroy Lita. A £1.75million fee was agreed between the two clubs earlier in the week and the 26-year-old is now expected to undergo a medical on Tuesday. Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers knows Lita from their time together at former club Reading, and the Premier League new-boys' chairman, Huw Jenkins, has repeated that the forward was a top target. "Myself and Brendan are delighted to come to an agreement with Leroy,'' Jenkins told Swansea's official website.

"As I have said previously, Leroy was one of the manager's main targets when he arrived in Swansea a year ago.'' Rodgers said: "Leroy is a proven goalscorer. It would be a fantastic deal for this club. "Our supporters would love him because he is a player that is loved by the supporters of every team he plays for.'' Lita joined Middlesbrough on a free transfer from Reading in 2009. He scored eight times for Middlesbrough in his first season, before finishing the last campaign as second top scorer with 12 goals.
