Ex-Boro youngster looks to kick-start career

Former Middlesbrough starlet Nathan Porritt has sealed a move to Portugal. The 20-year-old winger left Boro in January when he was released from the remainder of his contract. Porritt, a former youth international, was once rated as one of the brightest prospects in England and was courted by the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool. But he never fulfilled his potential at The Riverside, and his only first-team action came during a loan spell at Darlington. He has now opted for a move to Portugal to kick-start his career and has signed a 12-month deal with SuperLiga outfit Olhaenense. "For me this is a good chance to re-launch my career," said Porritt. "The Portuguese league is a good level and I think that it is a style that suits me."
