Mido faces yet another spell on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury in training.
The Egyptian is Middlesbrough's top-goalscorer this season and had been in contention to play at Aston Villa on Sunday after scoring a late goal against West Ham last week.
But Mido's brother has confirmed to the Egyptian press that the striker faces two weeks out.
"Mido tore a hamstring muscle during Middlesbrough's training. He will not be able to play against Aston Villa on Sunday," Tamer Wasfi told FilGoal.
"He will have a week of rest before entering rehabilitation the following week."
