England star pleased with City showing

Stewart Downing was delighted with how Middlesbrough came through against Manchester City. The England winger feels Boro's team spirit overcame City, despite the fact they have some outstanding individuals such as Robinho. Downing feels the City result shows that Boro are capable of living with most clubs in the league after Wednesday's 2-0 home win. "It was a great result, they are a great team and have spent a lot and everyone expected them to turn us over," he told Sky Sports News. "But we proved we can live with them - it doesn't matter how much you spend it is all about putting together a team and as a team I thought we were good. "Obviously Robinho was the highlight, coming to England for a lot of money and obviously all eyes were on him but everyone's eyes would have left on Middlesbrough, individually he is brilliant but as a team I thought we were brilliant."

Hoyte boost

Meanwhile, Justin Hoyte is looking forward to returning from injury as he looks to push for a first-team comeback against West Ham on Sunday. "It is not good spending time in the treatment room but I am fully fit now," he told Sky Sports News. "I just want to get back in the team and get back out there and starting again."
