Darlington have brought in Middlesbrough midfielder Jason Kennedy on loan until the end of the season.

Kennedy has not played for Boro this season and spent the first half of the campaign on loan in Scotland with Livingston.

He is out of contract at the Riverside in the summer and Boro boss Gareth Southgate feels the move to Darlington could help the 21-year-old to secure a new club.

"Jason has been in and around the reserves since coming back from what was a successful loan spell at Livingston," Southgate told the club's official website.

"We hope he does well because it's a career path for him. It's important that we get him a club for his future.

"It's a good chance for him to prove that he's capable of being at a club like Darlington in the long term."

Kennedy, who had spells on loan at Boston United and Bury last season, has made seven appearances during his Boro career.

He could make his Darlington debut against Brentford on Saturday, along with fellow new loan capture Ben Parker, who was signed from Leeds United.
