Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate says he is yet to bid for any players after being linked with strike duo Afonso Alves and Fred.
Reports have claimed that Boro have agreed terms with Brazilian hot shot Alves, who is poised to leave Dutch club Heerenveen.
Alves' compatriot Fred, who plays for French champions Lyon, is also understood to have been the subject of an approach from Boro.
But, while acknowledging the club have made enquiries, Southgate confirmed he has stopped short of lodging formal bids - and has also not received offers for any of his players.
"We've been linked with everybody and a lot of our players have been linked with moves," Southgate told reporters.
"At the moment we haven't made any bids for any players and we have not received any bids for any players.
"We've made enquiries about players at other clubs and had one or two enquiries about our players going to other clubs on loan.
"But as we stand here there's nothing doing really.
"We would like to strengthen if we can, but we're not in a position where that's close at the moment."
