Middlesbrough striker Mido has hinted he will not be fit for the 2008 African Cup of Nations in Ghana.
The former Spurs ace is currently on the sidelines with a groin injury and is doubtful to feature in January's tournament.
With Mido just starting his eight-week rehabilitation programme which finishes on 20th January, he is not too optimistic of being fit.
When asked whether he would miss out on the trip to Ghana, he replied: "Probably, yes. I might just come back one week before.
"When you have a bone injury, it is very difficult to put a timescale on it.
"Probably I am going to miss the African Cup, which is disappointing for me as well because I want to help my national team to do well.
"The injury came at such a frustrating time and such an important time, but that's football, you have to live with injuries.
"You have to treat it and just go on, and as you say here in England, roll up your sleeves and work on it."
