Middlesbrough defenders Robert Huth and Emanuel Pogatetz continued their first team comebacks after coming through a reserve game unscathed.
The pair partnered each other in the centre of defence in the reserve defeat to Manchester United on Tuesday evening.
Pogatetz played the full 90 minutes in only his second game since surgery on both knees in the summer.
German centre-back Huth managed an hour in the game at The Riverside which saw two late goals from Manchester United seal the win.
Huth has been absent with an ankle injury and has not made a first team appearance since April.
Mido and defender Jonathan Woodgate are also on the way back to full fitness.
