Middlesbrough midfielder Julio Arca has rued his side's missed chances during their 3-0 defeat to West Ham.
Gareth Southgate's side were guilty of squandering several decent goalscoring opportunites during Saturday's encounter, and were made to pay for their wastefulness.
The Hammers were clinical in front of goal and two efforts early in the second half put the game beyond Boro.
Arca does not believe the scoreline was a true reflection of the game, but lamented his side's lapse of concentration at the beginning of the second half.
The Argentinean also voiced his optimism that they can turn things around when they host Sunderland on Saturday.
"We created lots of chances but in this league no-one feels sorry for you if you don't score and then you concede," he said.
"No-one expected us to be beaten as badly as we were. People who did not see the game will maybe think they battered us, but it wasn't like that.
"They had three chances to score and maybe one more. They were more awake than us at the beginning of the second half, and that was the point that changed the game."
"But in football things like that happen and hopefully next week we can win."
