Shawky signs as Euell departs

Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Egyptian international Mohamed Shawky. The 25-year-old impressed Boro boss Gareth Southgate after joining on trial last week. Shawky has penned a three-year deal at the Riverside after Boro agreed terms with his previous club Al Ahly. Boro will pay £650,000 for the versatile midfielder, who joins fellow countryman Mido at The Riverside.

Departure

Southgate freed up room in his squad to sign Shawky by allowing Jason Euell to leave on a free transfer. The Jamaican international, who joined Boro just 12-months ago, has wasted little time in securing his future as he has signed a two-year deal with Championship outfit Southampton. Meanwhile, Boro have also handed a trial to former Everton and Newcastle defender Alessandro Pistone.
