Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Julio Arca from Sunderland.
The Argentine, a fans favourite at The Stadium of Light, has spent six years with the Wearside outfit.
However, following their relegation from The Premiership last season he has decided the time is right for him to move on and he has opted for a move to North East rivals Middlesbrough, ahead of a switch to Spain with Espanyol.
Arca had a clause in his contract allowing him to talk to any top-flight club and so Sunderland were helpless to stop him talking to Boro - who have convinced him to make the switch to Teesside.
Arca, Gareth Southgate's second signing as Middlesbrough manager following the arrival of Herold Goulon from Lyon, will be unveiled at a press conference on Wednesday.
