Middlesbrough have expressed an interest in signing French forward Sidney Govou.
New Boro boss Gareth Southgate is keen to bolster his attacking options after deciding to let Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink leave The Riverside.
Govou is currently away with France at the World Cup after getting a late call-up to replace the injured Djibril Cisse.
The 26-year-old looks set to leave Lyon this summer with the French champions willing to let the versatile attacker move on.
Manchester City, Fulham, Rangers and Valencia have all been linked with Govou and the player's agent Frederic Guerra revealed Middlesbrough have joined the chase for the player.
"Boro had been in touch with Lyon and also myself to sign Sidney," Guerra told the News of the World.
"We will wait until the return of Sidney after the World Cup to decide.
"Many other clubs are interested in signing him."
