Bradford want Middlesbrough starlet Adam Johnson on a season-long loan.
However, The Bantams' bid looks destined for failure.
Bradford and Middlesbrough have a good working relationship with former Boro boss Colin Todd in charge at Valley Parade.
He used this relationship last season to take full back Andrew Taylor - although he was recalled early as he was needed back at The Riverside and he went on to have a hugely successful latter end to the season.
Taylor had no first team experience when he went to Bradford, but Johnson is a different matter as he played nearly 20 first team games last season.
The 18-year-old is regarded as Stewart Downing's heir apparent, but Todd will be hoping to persuade new Boro boss Gareth Southgate that a season in League One may accelerate his progress - although this appears unlikely.
