Jones signs Boro deal

Middlesbrough have handed a new contract to Brad Jones.

Middlesbrough have handed a new contract to Brad Jones.

The Australian youth international has signed a new two-year deal at The Riverside, keeping him at the club until 2007.

Jones is now Boro's number two following the departure of Carlo Nash last month and he played against Arsenal last weekend after an injury to Mark Schwarzer in the warm-up.

Boro have a plethora of highly-rated young keepers including Jones, Ross Turnbull and David Knight - although it remains to be seen whether Steve McClaren will bring in another experienced shot-stopper in the summer.
