Parnaby breaks leg

Middlesbrough defender Stuart Parnaby has suffered a broken leg.

Middlesbrough have suffered a new injury blow with the news that Stuart Parnaby has suffered a broken leg, which will rule him out until the New Year.

Boro looked to be getting over their injury crisis which has best the club in recent months.

However, it has now been revealed that Parnaby fractured his leg during training in Greece in midweek as Boro prepared for their midweek Uefa Cup clash against Egaleo.

"It's a real blow for Stuart, but he has bounced back from injuries in the past and will do it again," said Boro boss Steve McClaren.

Parnaby is the third Boro player within the last 12 months to break his leg following similar blows to Andrew Davies and Malcolm Christie, although the latter has suffered a recurrence and is out until the New Year.

The news means that Boro's FA Youth Cup winning captain Tony McMahon will get an extended run in the team, with Michael Reiziger and Davies still short of fitness.
