Boro - Geremi talks continue

MIDDLESBROUGH have revealed that talks over Cameroonian midfielder Geremi are still ongoing.

The Real Madrid loan star has been in fine form for Boro this season, but talks over a potential permanent move are still continuing.

The Teessiders are believed to have had at least one bid rejected by Real, who are looking for the original £9 million deal agreed with Boro last year.

Boro are not willing to go that high, but are hoping to sort some kind of deal out with the Spanish giants.

Manager Steve McClaren denied that he has already informed Geremi that he will not be on Teesside next season.

"It's simply not true," said McClaren.

"Talks with Real are ongoing, but it's important to remember it's still early days - we've got to be patient.

"We've made it clear that we want Geremi to stay here next season and we will be doing everything we can to make sure that's the case.

"It's important to remember it's still very much early days in terms of our efforts to bring him here.

"We've got to be patient. I've made it very clear in the past that we want Geremi to stay.

"I can assure the fans we will be doing all we can to make sure that's the case."
