STOKE CITY have signed Mark Crossley from Middlesbrough on a month's loan.

The Potters are also understood to have enquired about West Brom keeper Brian Jensen, but will be pleased to have snapped up Welsh international Crossley, who has a wealth of experience.

The 33-year-old is likely to replace Neil Cutler as the Britannia Stadium outfit look to end a disastrous losing run of eight successive games.

The former Nottingham Forest number one's exit from The Riverside will hand an opportunity to either Brad Jones or Sam Russell to sit on the bench as cover for first-choice Mark Schwarzer.

Stoke were also rumoured to be keen on Baggies giant Jensen, but may have more luck with one of his team-mates, Danny Dichio.

The lanky ex-Sunderland striker is said to be another player on Tony Pulis's list of targets, as he looks to strengthen his team in order to prevent City crashing through the relegation trapdoor and into Division Two.
