Boksic's chances to play with Maccarone have been limited so far this season, but the Croatian is very close to the young Italian - who he acts as interpreter for until he learns English.
"Massimo is very young but he's already a complete player," said Boksic.
"He can score and create goals and he's already one of the best strikers in the Premiership. His strength and speed make him very difficult to defend against."
Boksic hailed the current Boro side, who climbed to the lofty heights of third place in the Premiership on Saturday.
"At the moment we're playing very, very good football and it's very exciting to be involved with it," he continued.
"This is the strongest Boro squad since I arrived. Over the last three years we've been going sometimes up and sometimes down.
"But over the last six or seven matches our improvement has been very noticeable.
"We deserved the victory and we deserve to be where we are. I am excited by the progress being made by this team.
"We're really enjoying our football and you can see that by the way we've performed.
"Some games you win and some you lose playing that style of football.
"But things are going fine at the moment and I'm not complaining. I'm really happy, we're not thinking about Europe we just have to think about the next match.
"We thoroughly deserved the victory and it is no surprise because of the way we played.
"I've been very excited by the way the team is playing, it's very nice to be a part of it. It has given me energy and enthusiasm."
