MASSIMO MACCARONE has claimed that his £8.5 million move to Middlesbrough is as good as done.
The Empoli hit-man is expected to sign a five-year contract at the Riverside Stadium worth an estimated £1 million per annum.
"I'm happy about the negotiations obviously as otherwise I wouldn't have signed. And, of course, I have to get used to the English weather and , above all, I have to learn how to speak English," said Maccorone.
Middlesbrough remained coy over talk that the move was set in stone with club spokesman Dave Allan telling the club's official website: "It's our policy only to comment on deals that are complete."
"As always, as and when any transfer is completed for any of our targets then we will make an announcement and tell the fans the details.
"The club is working hard on several fronts to bring in new players for next season."
