Vogts hands quartet debuts

SCOTLAND boss Berti Vogts has handed debuts to Robert Douglas, Robbie Stockdale, Kevin McNaughton and Gareth Williams for Wednesday's friendly with Nigeria.

Celtic goalkeeper Douglas will be given the chance in goal replacing the injured Neil Sullivan after being an unused substitute against France last month.

Middlesbrough defender Stockdale gets the opportunity to start after pledging his allegiance to Scotland.

Aberdeen youngster McNaughton will start on his home ground of Pittodrie, while highly-rated Nottingham Forest star Williams gets a place in midfield.

Preston defender Graham Alexander is set to replace Stockdale at half time at right back, while Celtic star Paul Lambert will again skipper the side.

Dundee United hit-man Steven Thompson will lead the attack, while Vogts has still to decide whether to partner Rangers ace Neil McCann or Middlesbrough man Allan Johnston up front with him.

Celtic defender Stephen Crainey will win his second cap in defence after making a successful debut in Paris.
