MIDDLESBROUGH`S head coach Terry Venables took advantage of his free weekend by travelling to The New Den to watch Millwall`s Neil Harris.

The 23-year-old striker has already grabbed 24 goals this season and Boro are known to be in the market for a new striker to bolster their struggle against relegation.

Harris failed to score in Millwall`s 1-0 win over Luton, but Venables could still see the former Cambridge City player as the man who could fire Boro clear of the drop-zone.

The Teessiders currently have a number of strikers on their books, but a few of them could find themselves surplus to requirements, with Noel Whelan, Brian Deane and Andy Campbell - who has just joined Bolton on loan - the most likely to leave.

Another lower league striker who is coming under close scrutiny by Venables` staff is Brighton`s Bobby Zamora, the former Bristol Rovers man has also been the target of Ipswich, but neither has yet made a bid.
