It's a damp Bank Holiday evening in west London as Manchester City's promising young midfielder Seko Fofana hides from the elements, writes Sky Sports News HQ reporter Paul Gilmour.

But, ahead of his interview, the 19-year-old appears excited at the prospect of a long journey up the M6 following an "enjoyable" loan spell at Fulham.

Having helped Fulham survive in a fiercely competitive Championship, the France U19 international has tasted top-level football, and there's no going back.

Manchester City youngster Seko Fofana speaks to SSN HQ's Paul Gilmour

"I want to continue to play regularly to progess, but it's one of my objectives to play for the first team in the future," said Fofana.

That, of course, isn't straightforward at a club frequently linked with a mega-money move for his compatriot Paul Pogba - another central midfielder.

Fofana, however, is determined and is being tracked by a number of Premier League and Ligue 1 clubs with a view to a second temporary spell next season.

It will be a chance to continue his development and crucially, a chance to prove himself at the highest level.

While keen to give the interview in English, especially to thank Fulham for putting faith in him, Fofana is still getting to grips with the language. He is learning with the help of an unlikely source.

"I watch a lot of drama with French subtitles. I enjoy Game of Thrones," he said.

He prefers to speak in his native tongue when we ask him about influential figures in his career, so as not to mix his words about two of his idols.

"Yaya Toure is a player who inspires me a lot.  He has a huge influence on Man City's style and I have learned from watching him play," said Fofana.

However, he's been drawing more natural comparisons with one of his coaches at City, given they share the same nationality and position.

He said: "Patrick Vieira has helped me to progress every day. He was a big player in my position so his advice is good.  He knows how to get the best from the group and I think he has the quality required to become a great coach."

The interview ends as the heavens open once more and Fofana is finally ready to bring to an end his spell in London, but not before a chat about his dreams of being a title winner with Manchester City, and playing out for real a scenario he's experienced on his computer.

"I play football management games and select myself alongside Toure," he says with a smile.

"I keep working hard to achieve that. It would be an honour to wear the Man City first-team shirt."
