Martin Demichelis believes he proved his worth in Manchester City's title-winning season after a difficult start to his career in England.
The Argentine defender joined City from Atletico Madrid last September, but injury and inconsistent form meant he struggled to settle at the Etihad.
A red card in a Champions League defeat against Barcelona was a particular low point for the 33-year-old, but he responded with some solid displays.
Demichelis remained a regular starter as City held off Liverpool and Chelsea in the race for the Premier League crown and he is glad to have shown his best form to the fans.
Reflecting on his season, he told Sky Sports News: "That's the story of my life going through difficult moments, but now I'm doubly proud because I had a very difficult first four months because of injury.
"Now though is a great feeling to show everyone I can be an important player.
"This season has been difficult but now I have belief and confidence that there are good things to come.
"Now I can prepare for pre-season and hopefully another successful campaign."
