Defender concedes Manchester City will be tough to crack

Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos is determined to win against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday. The Spanish champions will host their English counterparts at the Santiago Bernabeu in Group D. Real have made a disappointing start to their Primera Liga campaign, picking up just four points from as many matches. Ramos admits that the situation at the club is "not good" and is keen on returning to winning ways following their 1-0 defeat at Sevilla on Saturday.

Bad start

"The draw is hard and really not in our favour, but Real Madrid are obliged to fight for qualification and for the top spot in the group," he told Sky Sports. "Manchester City are not the type of rivals that we desired, but the draw is done and we respect it. "Real have made a bad start in La Liga. Nobody can believe that we have collected just four points out of a possible 12. "To fall eight points back behind Barcelona is not good, but it is necessary to reflect on our games in the last few weeks. "We all are responsible in victories and defeats. Sevilla are forgotten and now we only think of City."
Morale-booster
Ramos further underlined the importance of a Real win over the English champions at home. "The match against City is very important," explained the 26-year-old. "To win against City would make things calm and boost our morale for the remainder of the week. "We need to change the situation and recover the style that we offered [to our fans] last season. "To play against [David] Silva, [Carlos] Tevez, [Joe] Hart, [Sergio] Aguero and the like is an extra incentive for any footballer. These players are always special for the players. It is normal that we want to demonstrate that we are the best against City."
Favourites
German champions Borussia Dortmund and last season's Eredivisie winners Ajax complete Group D, and Ramos warns against taking the duo lightly. "Under normal circumstances Real and City would be favourites to qualify from this group, but it is necessary to be aware of Borussia Dortmund," said the Spain international. "To play against such teams is not easy. It will be a hard test for us, but if Real want to be the champion, it will be necessary to overcome the dangerous rivals."
