Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini has revealed that Micah Richards is facing a month out of action with an ankle injury.
Richards suffered the setback when on Olympic duty for Great Britain in the quarter-final match with South Korea, which they lost on penalties.
Mancini admitted after Sunday's Community Shield win over Chelsea that the injury was worse than first feared.
"With Micah, we thought it was a small injury but instead he will be longer," said Mancini.
"He has a problem with his ankle, a big problem maybe, and it may be one month out."
Meanwhile, goalkeeper Joe Hart has pulled out of the England squad to face Italy next week after missing the Chelsea game with a back problem, but Mancini does not think the injury is serious.
"Joe had a problem with his back, but I don't think it is serious," added Mancini.
