Wayne Bridge admits he jumped at the chance to join Brighton & Hove Albion and is excited about his season-long loan move.
The Manchester City full-back has dropped down to the Championship for first-team football after spending the second half of last season on loan at Sunderland.
With his opportunities at City restricted by the presence of Aleksandar Kolarov and Gael Clichy, the former Southampton defender is happy to have joined the Seagulls.
He was swayed by the style of football employed by manager Gus Poyet and is hoping to help Brighton push for promotion to the Premier League.
Great chance
"My agent called me and told me about Brighton through being friends with Gus and when he told me about possibly going I was very interested," Bridge told the club's
official website.
"It's a great chance for me to get back playing football again, so as soon as it came along I jumped at it.
"It's attractive because of the new stadium and the way Gus likes to play football. I'm pleased to come here and hopefully help the club push for promotion.
"As a defender we get a lot more of the ball playing the way Brighton do at the back, I enjoy that a lot more. Everyone knows how Brighton play and I'm excited about being here.
"It's a new experience for me and one that I'm looking forward to."
